Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s career hasn’t gone as planned since leaving Liverpool, while the Reds have also struggled at right-back since his departure.

The England international is Jose Mourinho’s third-choice option at Real Madrid, behind Denzel Dumfries and Fede Valverde.

Due to the current predicament, Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a return to Liverpool.

And now, Steven Gerrard has revealed whether or not the Reds must consider a move for one of their own.

Steven Gerrard on the fence about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool return

“Ability-wise and talent-wise, yes,” began Gerrard via The Overlap when asked if Liverpool should consider bringing him back to the club.

“The decision he made and all the stuff around it – do I think it would be the right thing for Liverpool’s group now and the supporters? I’m going to sit on the fence and say I’m not sure.

“What he’s done for Liverpool in terms of the success, I would say yes. But the ending and that still being a little bit raw – I’m going to say I would, personally. I won’t sit on the fence there because that would be poor from me.

“Do I think it is the right thing for this group, this manager and where Liverpool are at right now? I’m unsure.

“Does he make the Liverpool team and the squad better? Yes, 100%. It’s tough. I’m just not sure it would be right for the group right now. That’s my take on it.”

Gerrard was put in a spot, and a closer look at the video will tell you that he was torn between being a Liverpool supporter and doing what the club actually needs at the moment.

Most of us are torn on this, but let’s just say Alexander-Arnold has a lot of relationships to mend if he wants to return to Anfield.
