Gomez insists he has plenty of room for improvement

Joe Gomez is loving life at Liverpool but has insisted that there is still plenty of room for improvement on an individual level.

As quoted by the Reds’ official club website, the England international reflected on his season so far and was quick to state that he is not yet “the finished article”.

Gomez’s displays at the back for Liverpool have been met with plenty of plaudits, as he continues to cement his place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up.

The promising defender has been operating in central defence alongside Virgil van Dijk throughout the course of the season but has also displayed his capability to operate as a right-back when necessary.

Gomez spoke of how he is currently enjoying his extended run in the Liverpool team but insisted that he still has plenty of work to do. The 21-year-old said:

I’m just enjoying playing, I’m just learning. I’m still young [and] obviously I’ve got a lot to learn. I’m far from the finished article. Last season I had some exposure to Premier League football, I played a few more games than I had the season before. I’ve been learning and I’ve still got a lot to learn.

Gomez will be keen to start and make an impression on Saturday afternoon, as Liverpool gear up for a blockbuster clash at the top of the Premier League with Arsenal.
