Liverpool set to battle Manchester City for Rabiot

Liverpool are preparing to do battle with Manchester City for the signing of Adrien Rabiot.

The French midfielder has reportedly been the subject of a bid from the Reds, but Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that Manchester City are also keen on welcoming Rabiot to their squad.

The Paris Saint-Germain man has been disillusioned with his status in the French capital for some time now, despite being an integral part of last season’s Ligue 1 title-winning side.

Making 50 appearances, few could argue the 23-year-old was dispensable for PSG.

However, Rabiot is said to be actively exploring opportunities away from the Parc des Princes.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is said to be coveting the box-to-box threat, although Manchester City are now also in the stakes for one of Europe’s most sought after stars.

Rabiot has received six France caps, but was omitted from the 2018 World Cup squad that would go on to lift the famous trophy. The Saint-Maurice native would then refuse to be placed on the standby list, leaving his international career with an uncertain future.

Liverpool and City are famed for their battles on the pitch, but could now flex their muscles away from the turf as they try to convince Rabiot they are the right destination for him.
