It was reported last week that Liverpool had made an offer for Benfica star Joao Felix, but the Reds could have competition in their pursuit of the young forward.

Portuguese outlet Record, as cited by the Star, claims that Manchester United are also interested in signing the attacking midfielder.

The 19-year-old has scored five goals and had provided a further nine assists in the Primeira Liga this season and as such, he’s started to attract interest from across Europe.

Liverpool’s reported offer for the teenager was worth around €70m, but it was apparently rejected by Benfica as they will seemingly only let him leave if somebody matches the €105m release clause in his contract.

Liverpool and United aren’t the only sides interested in the Portuguese star, however, as both Barcelona and Manchester City are reportedly tracking him ahead of a potential summer move.

United’s interim manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, recently played down talk of his side making any major signings before the transfer window closes, so that could give Liverpool the edge in terms of getting a deal done if they wish to do so.
