Liverpool monitoring Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek
Liverpool are reportedly showing an interest in Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, according to Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur, cited by Anfield HQ.
The Reds have reportedly rejoined the race to sign defender Matthijs de Ligt, with Jurgen Klopp making the Ajax man a priority signing, and Liverpool are now thought to be monitoring the defender’s teammate.
Van de Beek has been one of Ajax’s standout performers in their impressive campaign under Erik ten Hag, with the 22-year-old registering 16 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
The report claims that boss Klopp is a big admirer of van de Beek and may decide to make a move for the player this summer, with the midfielder having similar abilities to the ageing James Milner.
Ajax value the Dutch international, who has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, at £49m, which could prove to be a relatively small fee considering his impressive displays this year.
