Prior to their signing of former West Ham star Adrian on a free transfer, Liverpool made an enquiry about the availability of Egyptian goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy.

The 30-year-old is currently on the books of Egyptian side Al Ahly but is interested in a transfer to Europe and Liverpool made contact about a possible move for the veteran goalkeeper, who is said to be available for around £3.5million

Two other Premier League clubs, Arsenal and Aston Villa, have also shown an interest in El Shenawy, but Villa have since signed Tom Heaton from Burnley, so a move to Villa Park seems unlikely at this stage.

Turkish side Trabzonspor have shown interest in the Egyptian in recent days, whilst a move to Arsenal still should not be ruled out as the Gunners consider bringing in an experienced backup after the departure of Petr Cech.

Unless Liverpool are looking to sign an experienced third choice ‘keeper, then El Shenawy won’t be moving to Anfield but Mohamed Salah’s international teammate could still be on the move before the start of the season.
