Some Liverpool fans have been mocking Paul Merson, following his bizarre comments about Ozan Kabak.
The Reds clinched the loan signing of the centre-back on Monday, with the temporary deal able to become permanent in the summer, should Jurgen Klopp decide to keep him on.
Kabak’s arrival from Schalke was a huge positive for Liverpool, especially with the news that Joel Matip will join Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the treatment table until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old could prove to be a key figure in the second half of the campaign, filling the defensive void that has too often been left gaping in recent months.
Speaking on Sky Sports on deadline day, Merson wasn’t convinced by the signing of Kabak, claiming Schalke’s struggles at the bottom of the Bundesliga mean his mentality will be all wrong for Liverpool.
🗣"You are coming from a losing mentality to a winning one, at Schalke they are expected to lose every week"

These Reds supporters have laughed off Merson’s comments on Twitter, accusing him of talking nonsense.
Paul Merson thinks Ozan Kabak is item 43 on the menu in his local Chinese. He hasn’t a scooby about him.

Sky Sports asking Paul Merson on his views of Ozan Kabak’s performances at Schalke – a player he only heard of in the last 24 hours from a club whose colours are completely unknown to him.

Jurgen Klopp or Paul Merson. I just don't know who to trust.

Liverpool could pull out of a deal to sign Ozan Kabak after Paul Merson questions his ability. (Paul Joyce)

Merson once again showing his lack of knowledge of how a football club runs. A team like Liverpool would have a list of around 50 players for each position dependant on contract, age and cost that are regularly scouted. They haven't just pulled Kabak out of a hat https://t.co/FbGzKBtfh3

Liverpool have signed lots of players from clubs not at the top of the league. Van Dijk was from Southampton – Kabak playing for Schalke does not mean Liverpool turn into Schalke, Paul🧐 https://t.co/CYovzVGpKU
