Liverpool set to start either Ozan Kabak or Ben Davies against Leicester

Liverpool will start with either Ozak Kabak or Ben Davies in defence against Leicester City this weekend, according to the Mirror‘s Mark Jones.

The two centre-backs joined the Reds last week, with Kabak clinching a loan move from Schalke and Davies signing from Preston.

Neither featured in last weekend’s 4-1 defeat at home to Manchester City, but that looks set to change at Leicester on Saturday lunchtime.

Jones claims that Kabak and Davies ‘stepped up their fitness’ in training on Wednesday and that Jurgen Klopp ‘seems set to pick’ one of them alongside Fabinho.

It is time that Klopp started using players in their natural positions again, now that he has brought in defensive reinforcements.

While Fabinho staying in defence makes some sense at Leicester – he has looked at home there all season – Jordan Henderson has to push into midfield, bringing much-needed energy in the middle of the park.

Kabak is the more logical man to start, simply because he is a superior, more established top-flight player than Davies, but it will be a tough match for him to make his debut in.

The 20-year-old will come up against a dangerous Leicester attack featuring the likes of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy, so a dominant performance will be required from the off.
