Lille reportedly agree to sell Sven Botman to major European club

Lille have agreed to sell star centre-back Sven Botman to an unnamed club this summer, according to Canal+ [via Get French Football News].

The 21-year-old was linked with a move to Liverpool in January, but Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies ended up joining instead.

It is now claimed that Botman looks set to be on the move at the end of the season, however, leaving for a fee in the region of €40-45million.

The club that the Dutchman could head to isn’t revealed, but they are thought to be a big European team.

With the news that Bayern Munich have signed Liverpool target Dayot Upamecano this summer, Jurgen Klopp will surely be looking at defensive alternatives.

Botman is an extremely exciting young centre-back with a bright future and he ticks a number of boxes required to be a success at Anfield.

He has won a monstrous average of 3.6 aerial duels per game in Ligue 1 this season, which is superior to Joe Gomez (3.0), Virgil van Dijk (2.4), Joel Matip (2.3) and Fabinho (2.1) in the Premier League in 2020/21.

Botman has also completed 85.7 percent of his passes, showing that he could thrive in Klopp’s ball-playing style of play.
