AC Milan keen on summer move for Gini Wijnaldum

AC Milan are interested in signing Gini Wijnaldum this summer, according to Sempre Milan.

The 30-year-old’s Liverpool future continues to be up in the air, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

Wijnaldum increasingly looks likely to move on to pastures new, with Barcelona generally viewed as the favourites to sign him.

This latest report claims that Milan legend and technical director Paolo Maldini is keeping an eye on the Dutchman, with regards to a potential move.

The Serie A club could be looking to break Reds hearts again, having defeated them in the 2007 Champions League final.

The hope is that Liverpool end up persuading Wijnaldum to stay put, with the midfielder still such an important player for the Reds.

The Netherlands international is not only a hugely intelligent footballer who knits things together in the middle of the park, but his fitness record is also exemplary.

Wijnaldum has made the joint-most appearances (35) for Liverpool this season, along with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, also never playing fewer than 40 times in a whole campaign since arriving in 2016.

If the former Newcastle United man decides it is time for a fresh challenge, he will go down as a Reds legend, having won the Champions League, Premier League and Club World Cup during his time at Anfield.
