Virals: Virgil van Dijk posts further developments in rehab journey

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has developed a knack for well-timed rehabilitation updates during his recovery from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

As the Reds are left ruing missed opportunities having dropped four points in the last two Premier League matches from winning positions, the Dutchman took another huge step forward.

In a video posted on the Dutchman’s own Twitter account, the centre-back is back up and running on the pitch at Liverpool’s state of the art training centre in Kirkby.

Set to the Fleetwood Mac song ‘Dreams’ – van Dijk offered Kopites everywhere a timely lift as the Reds prepare to face Manchester United this weekend.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has previously stated he hopes to have Van Dijk back for pre-season – although Netherlands national team coach, Frank de Boer, has left the door open for a return at this summers European Championships.

READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

To use a throwaway old cliche, having Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip back at the start of next season – truly will be like three new signings.

It can’t really be measured just how much Liverpool have missed their ‘Rolls Royce’ in defence since the cruel injury suffered in the Merseyside derby.

Not only in terms of ability, but the Reds have lacked true leaders at times this season perhaps more than any other factor.

matchday.
