£49.5m-rated Liverpool target plays down rumours over future with Euro 2020 in focus

Liverpool have regularly been linked with a move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer.

The Reds are in search for a new midfielder after Georginio Wijnaldum’s departure at the start of the month.

Other players have been mooted such as Saúl Ñíguez, Houssem Aouar, and Sergej Milinković-Savić.

However, Tielemans has been heavily mentioned as one of the clubs transfer targets, and the Belgium has spoken out.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Tielemans was asked about whether he sees himself as Wijnaldum’s replacement.

The 24-year-old was quick to brush off the rumours, stating his focus is on the Euros right now…

As cited by Anfield Watch above, Tielemans has stated that he isn’t paying attention to transfer rumours.

It is a fair response too, with Belgium one of the favourites at this years European Championships.

However, there is no stopping the rumours mill, with the Reds continuing their supposed pursuit of Tielemans.

The midfielder would be a fantastic signing for the club and should certainly be a realistic target.

Last season was arguably one of his best in professional football, helping Leicester to FA Cup glory.

With a current market value of £49.5million according to Transfermarkt, a fee for Tielemans could be high.

It has been reported that the Foxes wanted between £60-70million, but time will tell over a possible move.
