Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott continues to attract interest from Sheffield United in a potential loan switch.

The 18-year-old looks set to be part of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans during the 2021/22 season following enhanced involvement in the recent friendly clashes in Austria.

Having enjoyed a successful campaign whilst on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship last term, recently relegated Sheffield Untied are believed to be keen to land the teenager winger.

That’s according to a report from the Sheffield Star as cited by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

The report claims that the South Yorkshire club have made their interest known and expect a final decision on the England youth international over the course of the next week.

Last season Elliott scored seven and registered another 11 assists in 43 Championship appearances – earning an impressive 7.10 average Sofascore rating in the process.

It’s believed the appointment of former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic could help persuade the Reds to allow Elliott to join the man who gave him a senior debut

However, as things stand in the Anfield squad, with Xherdan Shaqiri almost certainly to depart before the end of the window, Klopp needs the wonderkid on Merseyside.

Perhaps in an ideal world, Liverpool would have enough strength in depth to allow Elliott another opportunity to gain further first-team experience – perhaps in a push for promotion.

A signing or two in the coming weeks may well chance the stance altogether and the talented forward could join up with ex-Red prodigy Rhian Brewster.
