“I’m happy to play wherever”: Liverpool’s £13.5m youngster makes encouraging statement over first-team involvement

Liverpool have already enjoyed a great start to the season, with some new faces making themselves known.

One of the real positives so far has been the emergence of youngster Harvey Elliott.

Last season saw the 18-year-old on loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers, enjoying a great campaign.

However, this season has seen Elliott integrated into the club’s first-team, featuring in all three league games so far.

In a recent interview from the teenager with The Athletic’s James Pearce, he spoke about how he has settled in at Liverpool.

The sit down involved himself and his former youth coach, Dan Thomas, who posed some great questions.

Elliott was asked about his new role under Jurgen Klopp, with him now operating in a midfield role rather than on the wing.

It didn’t surprise many when he said he has no isses with where he plays, so long as he is on the pitch…

It is great to hear that Elliott has no issues with having to play in a different role than to what he is used too.

In fact, he looks to have adapted very well to his new position, having produced some impressive performances.

With that being said, it seems as though Klopp is looking towards using Elliott as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman departed this Reds this summer on a free transfer to French giants PSG.

After the club did not sign a new midfielder to take his spot, Elliott has instead been used in that same position.

Since joining the club, Elliott’s stock has increased, with him currently valued at £13.5million on Transfermarkt.

If thing’s carry on the way they are, then the Reds can be excited with having a player of Elliott’s ability at their disposal.

matchday.
