Former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson has tipped to Liverpool to make Mohamed Salah the top earner at Anfield.

This comes following conflicting reports last weekend regarding the Egyptian’s wage demands as the club look to strike a new deal.

Currently under contract until 2023, the hierarchy will be desperate to tie their prize asset down long term to avoid losing the 29-year-old for a cut-price fee.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson claimed that Liverpool will have no hesitation in handing Salah a healthy wage boost.

I think they will make him the top earner at the club, ahead of the likes of Virgil van Dijk. They’ve been very wise and clever with their contract renewals this year. The fact that they are in negotiations with Salah tells you a lot. I don’t think they will think twice about upping his salary significantly and making him the top earner there. He looks after himself so well as well. There will be no concerns about him turning 30 next year. that’s for sure. He lives and breathes football.

Since the end of last season, Liverpool have tied down the futures of Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk himself.

This term the 68 times capped Egypt star has scored twice and added two assists in the opening three Premier League matches.

Valued at £90million (Transfermarkt), Salah certainly shows no sign of slowing down as he approaches 30.

Already an iconic figure on Merseyside, the ‘Egyptian King’ has played an integral part of a trophy-laden spell under Jurgen Klopp.

Given his importance to the side, the club should prioritise the winger and in doing so reflect his value in wages.
