Pundit claims Liverpool ‘cannot afford’ Mohamed Salah contract rift

Liverpool have been negotiating a new contract for Mohamed Salah for some time now without a breakthrough.

The Egyptian’s current deal expires in 2023 and following many big-name renewals over the summer, the 29-year-old is expected to be the next Red to put pen to paper.

Salah’s recent extraordinary form has led to further calls for a new deal to be completed in order to secure the superstar’s Anfield future.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson has suggested that the club must find a resolution before too long.

Liverpool need to get it sorted quickly. They have been wise with their contract renewals this year but the most important one is still to be done. You cannot afford to let a player like Salah get into the final 18 months of his contract. He is one of, if not the best player in the world right now on current form. They cannot afford to lose him. Salah is the heartbeat of that team at the moment. To lose him would be huge.

This season Salah has scored nine and assisted three goals in nine appearances across all competitions.

Those astonishing numbers have taken the Egyptian’s overall Liverpool tally to 134 goals and 50 assists in 212 outings for the club.

This contract saga has already rumbled on far too long for everybody’s liking.

Of absolutely pivotal importance to Jurgen Klopp’s side and seemingly only now entering his prime, tying Salah down beyond 2023 is a no brainer.

Sourcing and financing a replacement for the £90million valued winger would be nigh on impossible and the sensible decision for all parties is to keep the ‘Egyptian King’ in situ.

matchday.
