Virals: Liverpool reportedly ‘keen’ on Barcelona starlet Gavi

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona wonderkid Gavi.

The Reds have been named alongside arch-rivals Manchester United as the clubs to have expressed an interest in the 17-year-old.

A recent graduate of the Catalan’s famous La Masia academy, Gavi has become a mainstay in Ronald Koeman’s side this season.

According to a report from El Nacional, as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter, Liverpool are ‘keen’ on signing the teenage sensation.

The report cites a €50million (£42.4million) release clause in the record-breaking Spaniard’s contract.

This week, Gavi became the youngest player ever to play for Spain at just 17 years and 62 days old and was heralded as a ‘terrific’ player by Italy manager Roberto Mancini.

Featuring alongside fellow starlet and another reported Liverpool target Pedri, the attacking midfielder has provided one assist in eight appearances across all competitions this season.

Clearly a player beyond his years both physically and technically, signing the Spaniard would be a huge coup for the Reds.

In years gone by, attempting to prize top talent from Barcelona would’ve proved near impossible.

However, given the harsh financial reality at the Camp Nou, coupled with a difficult start on the field, Liverpool should be confident of landing the exciting youngster.

Even if it means activating the mooted release clause, the Anfield club should be all over signing such an exciting prospect.
