Virals: Jurgen Klopp confirms Curtis Jones is unavailable for UCL clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed attacking midfielder Curtis Jones won’t be in contention to feature for the Reds against Atletico Madrid.

The 20-year-old missed the emphatic victory over Watford due to a problem picked up whilst away on international duty with England Under 21s.

Despite taking part in the warm-up to training, journalist Paul Gorst confirmed on Twitter that Jones won’t be part of the squad travelling to Madrid.

Speaking ahead of the trip in the UEFA Champions League group stage, Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for hat-trick hero Roberto Firmino.

Meanwhile, centre-back Virgil van Dijk admitted he still has ‘room to improve’ in order to reach previous pre-injury levels.

Options are slowly but surely returning to the fold for Klopp.

Whilst Thiago’s and Jones’ continued absence is a blow, welcoming Fabinho back into the fray at least allows for essential squad rotation.

Following such a dominant Premier League performance, Klopp may be tempted to persist with the triumvirate of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita.

Back to back meetings with La Liga champions Atletico seem almost certain on paper to decide the winners of Group B and a strong away result would be a huge boost to the Reds’ chances.
