Virals: Liverpool planning ‘mission to Italy’ regarding Serie A duo

Liverpool are reportedly planning a ‘mission to Italy’ in order to pursue deals for a high-profile Serie A duo.

The Reds are believed to be keen on seeking out a move for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala and Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar.

Out of contract at the end of the season, 28-year-old Argentina ace Dybala has previously been linked with a move to Anfield.

According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, as cited by TEAMtalk on Twitter, Liverpool are set to make their interest known.

The report claims that the Reds are planning ‘concrete moves’ in February to ‘establish contacts’ over the 48 times capped Skriniar and £45million valued Dybala.

So far this season – the man once hailed as ‘special’ by Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero – has earned an impressive 7.61 average Sofascore rating from 17 league outings.

Meanwhile, the defender twice crowned Slovakian Footballer of the Year has scored four times in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Pulling off a double signing of this magnitude would certainly be quite the statement of intent in the summer, especially in the wake of Luis Diaz’s arrival and the possible capture of Fabio Carvalho.

Whilst the move for Dybala looks almost certain to be a salary only venture, the demands would still be lofty for a player of the Argentinian’s stature.

Moving for Skriniar is perhaps the more questionable link given the plethora of riches in terms of strength in depth in Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate.

Albeit the £58.8million valued ace would be a superb acquisition, it’s likely the money would be best spent elsewhere unless a big defensive departure was sanctioned.

matchday.
