Virals: Liverpool ‘ask’ for £30million transfer fee to sell Joe Gomez

Liverpool will reportedly ‘ask’ for £30million in order to sell central defender Joe Gomez.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Anfield having fallen down the pecking order this season.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa have both been touted as suitors for the Englishman but Real Madrid are also believed to be keen.

According to a report from ElNacional, the Reds have set their price for Gomez.

The report claims that Newcastle would be ‘willing to pay’ the fee for the 11-cap England international who ‘wants to leave’ Liverpool.

That’s all despite a recent report from The Athletic claiming that the club has no desire to sell the centre-back.

So far this season Gomez has made 13 appearances across all competitions – albeit the Englishman has missed out on recent matchday squads.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract until 2024 (Transfermarkt), the former Charlton starlet certainly still has a huge future on Merseyside.

Seemingly taking more time to fully recover from injury than the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, Gomez has also found himself behind Ibrahima Konate.

However, already a 167 appearance professional and a one-time favoured partner alongside Van Dijk, it’s far too soon to write off such a talent.
