Alisson Becker only has a year left on his Liverpool deal, but he is still as good a goalkeeper as he’s ever been.
The Brazilian missed a handful of games last season with a hamstring injury, and Giorgi Mamardashvili got his chance between the sticks for an extended period during his debut campaign.
Earlier this summer, Alisson was linked with a move to Juventus, but the Reds put their foot down and refused to sell him.
And now, the Brazilian is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League, which is another problem for Liverpool to address.
However, speaking to Win Win Sports, sources close to Alisson have confirmed that he has no intention of leaving Liverpool this summer.
Alisson wants Liverpool stay
Since joining Liverpool in 2018, the former Roma man has become a fan favourite and is arguably the greatest Reds goalkeeper of the Premier League era.
Alisson has won several personal and team accolades at Anfield and still has plenty of football left under his belt.
Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Ittihad and Al-Diriyah are interested in signing him, but according to the aforementioned source, Alisson wants to remain at Liverpool.
Sources close to the Brazilian said, “We are not talking or negotiating with any club at the moment.
“Alisson is happy at Liverpool, and Liverpool also wants to rely on him and wants him to stay.”
That is that, in terms of his future. The Brazilian great will remain at Anfield and is set to start as Andoni Iraola’s first-choice goalkeeper, with Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman set to deputise for him.
In fact, with Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson leaving, Alisson could also be named Liverpool’s vice-captain this season, with Joe Gomez and Dominik Szoboszlai also among the candidates who could get the role.
All in all, this is an important season for the Brazilian and is likely his final one at Anfield, unless he signs an extension between now and the end of the season.
