Liverpool have been linked with a move for Alex Scott, who Andoni Iraola knows well after his time at Bournemouth.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the English midfielder has rejected two contract extension offers as clubs across the continent keep an eye on him.
Liverpool target Alex Scott rejects Bournemouth deal
While Kroupi Jr stole most of the headlines last season, Scott quietly went about his business in the centre of the park and was a key cog of Iraola’s exciting Bournemouth side.
In recent months, he has been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, among others, indicating that his performances have not gone unnoticed.
And now, Romano and other reliable outlets across the country have confirmed that Scott has rejected multiple extension offers from the Cherries as he waits patiently to see if a transfer can materialise.
Premier League clubs are ‘attentive’ to his situation, according to the Italian transfer guru. And while this doesn’t necessarily confirm Liverpool’s interest, it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on as Scott has been historically linked with a move to Anfield.
What has Iraola said about Scott?
After Bournemouth’s 2-1 win against Arsenal earlier this year – a game in which Scott scored the winner – Iraola referred to the midfielder as an amazing player.
“Alex [Scott] has been like this for many months,” the Cherries boss told BBC Sport.
“He was amazing. He’s in such good form. I’m so happy for him. He’s worked a lot to be at this level.”
“We showed great personality to play in a big game and a big stadium. We’ve been at the level of the game. I’m very happy for the players,” added Iraola.
“Defensively, apart from the penalty, we defended those [set-piece] situations. We were quite brave. A complete performance.
“It’s a matter of growing into the game. We had very good spells on the ball. We were finding good gaps in the middle.”
The pair know each other quite well, so if he decides to leave Bournemouth, don’t be surprised to see Liverpool launch a move for him.
