Liverpool have a lot of gaping holes to fill in their squad and are running out of time to do so.
They still have just over a month to sign players, but new manager Andoni Iraola would have liked to get his signings done early to work with them during pre-season.
While they obviously need an attacker to replace Mohamed Salah, defence is also an area of concern for Liverpool.
And if reports from England are to be believed, they are serious about signing Djed Spence, who was Thomas Tuchel’s utility man at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Liverpool want to sign Djed Spence from Tottenham
Spence was a surprise addition to the squad and got more game time than he’d have expected owing to injuries to Reece James and Tino Livramento.
The Tottenham defender slotted in both at left-back and right-back, producing creditable displays against the likes of Mexico and Norway.
And now, Dave Davies, speaking on Anfield Index’s YouTube channel, confirms that the England international is a serious target for Liverpool.
“We went digging on this and Djed Spence is absolutely a player that Liverpool are looking at.”
“That’s our info now. Liverpool absolutely are having a serious look at Djed Spence.”
Liverpool have Milos Kerkez, Kostas Tsimikas, Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley as full-back options.
And one look at the aforementioned players will tell you that they can do well with a versatile option there, so truth be told, Spence fits in like a glove.
However, Inter Milan are also in the running to sign the defender, so if Liverpool want him, they need to make a move soon as the Italian champions are already in talks to complete a transfer.
