Ex-Liverpool youngster Adam Morgan has joined League Two side Accrington Stanley on a one-year deal.
Morgan was a highly rated striker whilst at Liverpool, scoring a significant amount of goals for the Under-18s and the Under-21s.
Manager Brendan Rodgers took Morgan with the senior team in 2012’s pre-season tour of the USA where he managed to score a goal against Toronto FC. He also made competitive appearances in the Europa League.
After a loan spell at Rotherham United, Morgan joined Yeovil Town on a permanent deal.
From there, he was sent back on loan to St Johnstone where he did not enjoy the best of times. Making only five appearances, in one of which he received a red card, St Johnstone cut his loan spell short and Morgan returned to Yeovil. For the duration of the 2014-15 season, Morgan was a bit-part player for The Glovers and could only manage one goal.
Released by Yeovil, the 21-year-old has now joined Accrington hoping to get his career of the ground. This is what he had to say about his move:
“The manager’s given me this opportunity and the chance to play football and that’s all I’ve ever needed. I just want to show people what I can do and this club has given me the chance. I don’t want to let myself or the club down. I’m a goalscorer and I need to be on the pitch as much as possible. I feel like I will score goals if I get time on the pitch so I want to play as many games in a row as possible get in my stride and all I need is one goal to get going.”
One of Morgan’s most memorable moments in a Liverpool shirt came against Manchester City Under-21s when he smashed home a 50-yard strike. Accrington fans will be hoping to see more of that at the Store First Stadium.
