Adrian has record top-flight win rate for Liverpool after Sheffield United win

One incredible statistic has emerged after Liverpool’s win over Sheffield United, with Adrian topping the Reds’ top-flight win rate in history.

Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League champions got the better of the Blades on Sunday evening, winning 2-0 at Bramall Lane.

Adrian started his first league since October, filling in for Alisson, who continues to mourn the loss of his father.

The Spaniard enjoyed a solid night between the sticks, and after the final whistle, he had reason to feel even more cheerful.

According to Opta’s Michael Reid on Twitter, Adrian’s 86 percent win rate is the best by any Liverpool player in top-flight history.

In second place is Naby Keita (80%), while Virgil van Dijk (76%) completes the top-three.

It’s fair to say that Adrian hasn’t been a fully convincing performer for Liverpool – he effectively got them knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid single-handedly – but this is a very impressive statistic.

The 34-year-old came in and did a good job during the early months of 2019/20, following an injury to Alisson, which is easy forget now, and he was also the penalty shootout hero in the UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea.

The hope is that Alisson will be back for Thursday’s visit of the Blues, but Adrian has shown that he can be a reliable presence with a winning mentality, if needed.

matchday.
