Andy Brassell says Liverpool signing Luis Diaz was ‘ready’ for big move

Liverpool have signed a player in the ‘form of his life’ in left-winger Luis Diaz according to Andy Brassell.

The Reds confirmed the capture of the 25-year-old on a five-year deal having acted quickly on what was previously interest in a summer transfer.

Currently away on international duty with Colombia, the exciting forward will likely join up with his new teammates in the build-up to an FA Cup clash with Cardiff City.

Speaking to talkSPORT (Monday, January 31 (1:50pm), a European football expert, Brassell suggested that Diaz was heading to Anfield at the ideal time.

He’s in the form of his life this season. He’s built into more and more of an important player in his time at Porto. We’ve all seen his highlight reel, he was able to do that all along – going way back back home in Colombia. Now he is someone who affects every match. He works really hard off the ball as well as on it. It feels as though he is ready for what Liverpool want.

This season the 32 times capped star has earned an impressive 7.47 average Sofascore rating from 19 Primeira Liga outings.

Diaz has also netted a remarkable 16 goals and provided six assists in just 28 appearances across all competitions.

Despite the form and subsequent impact of Diogo Jota alongside the continued brilliance of Mohamed Salah, it has felt as though Jurgen Klopp’s squad needed some additional attacking depth.

Signing Diaz certainly offers that and could also spur an out of sorts Sadio Mane back into life.

No doubt every Kopite will be even more excited to watch their £36million valued ace having read Brassell’s glowing reference.
