Bournemouth considering Simon Mignolet move

Bournemouth want to sign a new goalkeeper, according to The Daily Mail, and Liverpool man Simon Mignolet is understood to be among the options under consideration.

The Belgian international has fallen down the pecking order of shot-stoppers at Anfield in the past 18 months.

After seeing Loris Karius displace him from the Reds’ starting line-up last season, only to make two catastrophic errors in the Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid, Alisson was signed last summer.

The goalkeeper joined in a big-money deal from AS Roma and leads the way for the Golden Glove in the Premier League this term, with 19 clean sheets to his name.

Mignolet has struggled to break into Jurgen Klopp’s plans this season, and as a consequence, he could be on his way out of Merseyside in the summer.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Bournemouth are determined to recruit a new man between the sticks and have identified the former Sunderland star as a potential option.

The Cherries are keen to sign Jack Butland from Championship club Stoke City, but it seems manager Eddie Howe is considering other alternatives.

Mignolet is noted as a goalkeeper who has been monitored by the Bournemouth boss, while Burnley’s Nick Pope has also emerged as a potential transfer target for the club.
