Danny Ings set to leave Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that striker Danny Ings will leave the club in the summer.

In an interview with the BBC, Dyche said:  “He and his agent have put the message out that they are looking at pastures new. Every player has the right to run down their contract if they should want to. We will see what happens in the summer.”

Ings has been linked heavily with Liverpool over the past few months, and in January his manager admitted that the interest had affected the striker. The England Under-21 international stayed with Burnley in January, but will now look for a new club as his contract expires.

In the club’s match day programme, Ings said “he can’t thank Burnley enough” in what looked like farewell message to the Turf Moor faithful.

In a recent radio interview, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers spoke highly of Ings: “He’s a terrific young player, but there are a number of options for us to look at. There’s no doubt he’s done really well for Burnley and he’s a good young player.”

Ings will not be short of offers this summer with Manchester United and Real Sociedad just two of the other teams seemingly interested in the striker, so Liverpool will have to ensure they can beat the competition if they wish to acquire him.
