David Ornstein confirms massive Liverpool transfer blow

Liverpool‘s search for attacking reinforcements before the transfer deadline is proving to be an eventful one, to say the least.

Progress is being made to finally conclude a deal for Bradley Barcola, with all parties involved confident the transfer will happen.

However, the Reds want another attacker, and so far, they have been frustrated in their efforts to sign their preferred targets.

Brighton have rejected two bids from Liverpool for Yankuba Minteh, after which the Reds decided to move on to Ismaila Sarr.

The answer from Crystal Palace was the same as the Eagles turned down a late £50m bid, according to various sources.

And now, David Ornstein says Palace have no intention of selling the Senegalese international.

Liverpool target Ismaila Sarr unlikely to be sold

An excerpt from The Athletic’s article reads: “Exploratory talks for Sarr were not followed by a bid and sources have told The Athletic that only an astronomical offer would change Palace’s stance and, with other targets still in mind, Liverpool are unlikely to budge.”

Ornstein’s piece suggests Liverpool never made a bid for the player, while others have reported that they did.

However, the important takeaway from his piece is that Palace have no intention of selling unless Liverpool make an astronomical offer, which is unlikely to happen.

We may have to file this one under the ‘not happening’ category and move on to other targets.
