Liverpool are set to be one of the most active clubs in the transfer market between now and deadline day.
The Reds have finally agreed a deal to bring Bradley Barcola to Anfield, but his arrival could have a knock-on effect on a few existing Liverpool players.
Cody Gakpo has been linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City as both clubs scramble to add players to their squad.
And now, Andoni Iraola has refused to shut the door on his departure before the transfer deadline.
Cody Gakpo could leave Liverpool
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Nottingham Forest, the Spaniard praised Gakpo for his performances under him so far, adding that anything can happen between now and September 1st.
“After the performance he had in first game I say the same, he’s playing very well for us,” said the Spaniard.
“He’s been very good since he’s been back from World Cup. The right attitude and I hope we can keep him at that level. He can be very influential on us.
“When the market is open and we bring in expensive players I cannot guarantee anything.
“But I don’t know. Our players, I cannot guarantee anything about how many we are going to sign or whatever. Experience tells us that if there’s an opportunity the last day you can do something.”
Our opinion: If one of Spurs or City bid close to £75-80m, Liverpool will reluctantly sanction his sale and look to add one more attacking player to their squad.
