Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool target is joining Arsenal for £50m

Earlier this summer, it looked like Liverpool would surely make a massive move for a defender after injuries to key players.

Jeremy Jacquet was given time to make his debut, while Joe Gomez suffered an injury during the first game of pre-season.

Giovanni Leoni is still recovering from his ACL injury and Conor Bradley is also on the treatment table, so a versatile defender was the need of the hour.

And before Ronald Araujo’s loan move was confirmed, Liverpool were linked with a move for Ezri Konsa.

Now, Fabrizio Romano confirms the England international is on his way to Arsenal.

Liverpool target Ezri Konsa headed to Arsenal

The Italian wrote on X: “BREAKING: Arsenal agree deal to sign Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, here we go!

“Fee agreed at £50m plus add-ons and long-term deal in place with English defender.

“Konsa will undergo his medical in next 48h then signing in at #AFC.”

After William Saliba’s injury, the Gunners have moved decisively to sign Konsa, who enjoyed a fantastic season with Aston Villa and topped it up with a starring role for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Liverpool would have liked to sign him, but at that fee, they won’t be losing any sleep, especially after signing Araujo on loan as defensive cover.
