Numerous reports have emerged this evening regarding an incident that took place in the tunnel after the Capital One Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg at Anfield on Tuesday evening.
According The Telegraph’s Chris Bascombe, Liverpool’s vice-captain Jordan Henderson and Chelsea’s Brazilian born, Spanish international striker Diego Costa were separated by a Liverpool staff member following an angry verbal disagreement.
The players started their disagreement on the field as Henderson was pictured pointing towards the tunnel whilst speaking to Costa, presumably to indicate that they should have a conversation after the game. Henderson seemed angry with what he felt was a dive from Costa, an accusation the fiery-tempered striker seemingly didn’t take too well.

The altercation is likely to please Liverpool fans as Henderson will likely be the new captain next season when Steven Gerrard leaves to go toLos Angeles. Seeing the captain-in-waiting stand up for himself and his teammates in the face of Costa will go a long way in convincing doubters that Henderson has what it takes to fill the role that Gerrard will leave when he departs for the USA in the summer.
The altercation will also add extra intrigue to the second leg match-up that takes place at Stamford Bridge next Tuesday. The tie is evenly poised at 1-1, and was likely to be a hotly contested battle anyway. This alleged altercation could fan the flames even more, meaning the next chapter in the Liverpool-Chelsea saga will be a must-watch affair.
