‘Here we go’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms surprise Liverpool signing before deadline day

Liverpool have left it late this summer to add to their squad under Andoni Iraola.

Over the years, the Reds usually conduct all their transfer business early and watch the madness unfold close to the deadline.

This year, however, it has proved to be a different ball game, as signing players has been problematic.

Bradley Barcola’s headline move to Anfield is expected to be confirmed today.

And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Reds will complete another signing before the deadline: Lucca Brughmans.

Liverpool to sign Luca Brughmans

Earlier today, we relayed claims on Read Liverpool that Brughmans will do his medical today ahead of a potential transfer.

And now, Romano has confirmed on X that the 18-year-old goalkeeper will join the Reds, although he will only arrive at Anfield in 2027.

“Liverpool have reached verbal agreement with Genk to sign 18-year-old goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans; here we go!

“Deal worth €35m package, expected to join in summer 2027 as LFC already got the authorization for the medical. Formal steps are yet to follow after medical.”

Brughmans is expected to be announced as a Liverpool player shortly, but it remains to be seen what this does for Giorgi Mamardashvili, who has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest before the transfer deadline.

If the Georgian is allowed to depart, perhaps the Reds will advance the 18-year-old’s move to Anfield to this summer.
