James Pearce shoots down claims that Jurgen Klopp has quit Liverpool

Talk of Jurgen Klopp leaving his role as Liverpool manager is ‘complete nonsense’, according to The Athletic‘s James Pearce.

The Reds suffered another miserable day at the office on Saturday, losing 3-1 away to Leicester City.

The Premier League champions capitulated after taking the lead in the second half, leaving their top-four hopes dented.

After the game, rumours on social media regarding Klopp’s future emerged, with some claiming he was going to resign.

The reliable Pearce has shot down these claims, however, responding to a question from a fan in the comments section of his article:

Checked them out last night and was told ‘complete nonsense’. He was at the training ground today and is doing a press conference tomorrow ahead of Leipzig game. Business as usual.

Klopp is having an extremely hard time of things at the moment, considering his mother recently passed away, but it would be an almighty shock if he quit as Liverpool boss.

The German is in this for the long haul, with his current deal at Anfield not expiring until 2024.

There will come a time when Klopp believes he has taken Liverpool far enough, but this is just a tough period that both he and his players will get through.
