- Pennant wants Olise at Liverpool
- Sees Frenchman as Salah placement
- Urges Reds to use Gakpo in deal
Michael Olise was in fine form for Bayern Munich today and scored in the UEFA Champions League semifinal first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
Mohamed Salah has announced his exit from Liverpool this summer, and the club are now searching for his replacement. The fans, pundits, and everyone who watched the game have an opinion on who the Anfield side should sign.
The club have not finalised on who has to be signed, and one of the names mentioned in the media was Olise. The Bayern Munich star is seen as the big-name signing who can step-up and match the number of the Egyptian at Anfield.
Jermaine Pennant wants Olise at all costs
Jermaine Pennant took to X (formerly Twitter) during the PSG vs Bayern Munich clash, urging Liverpool to go all out for Olise.
He claimed that the Frenchman was the ideal replacement for Salah, adding that they should also include Cody Gakpo in the deal and posted:
“Liverpool go out and get Olise right now, at all costs. There is your replacement for Mo salah. AT ALL COSTS. Any amount plus gakpo.”
Reports in the media suggested that a €200 million offer was in the works at Anfield for the winger.
Bayern Munich have no plans to sell Liverpool target
Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß spoke about Liverpool’s reported interest in Olise, saying that the German side will reject any offer for the winger. He said that even a €200 million offer would not be considered, as they see the former Crystal Palace star as a key player and said:
“If that’s true, I don’t believe it is, but Liverpool have already spent €500 million this year and are having a very poor season. So, we won’t be contributing to their improved performance next year. We play this game for our fans. We have 430,000 members, we have millions of fans worldwide, and it doesn’t do them much good if we have €200m in the bank and then play poor football every Saturday because of it.”
The Bundesliga club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, also said that they were not thinking of any possible sale and said:
“We’re not giving it a second thought. Michael has a contract with us until 2029, without a release clause. We’re relaxed. He’s an FC Bayern player and has all the opportunities here that top players could wish for. We want to shape the future with him.”
The German side’s CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, also echoed this, adding that they are not bothered by which club is interested in Olise.
