Bayern Munich have withdrawn their latest contract offer for David Alaba, acting as a possible boost to Liverpool.

The Mirror report that the 28-year-old’s future is now even more up in the air, with Bayern president Herbert Hainer confirming that the offer is no longer on the table.

Alaba has been linked with a move to Liverpool in January, helping ease the defensive crisis at Anfield.

The Austrian is out of contract at the end of the season, so Bayern could look to earn a fee for him before then.

Much like Thiago, I think Alaba could be an outstanding addition for Liverpool, even if time isn’t necessarily on his side.

The Austria legend showed what a world-class player he is last season, when he excelled at centre-back in Bayern’s Champions League-winning campaign.

He is capable of shining both in the centre of defence and at left-back, not to mention central midfield, too. (Transfermarkt)

This versatility could appeal to Klopp, but most importantly, his vast experience as a defender could help fill the void left by Virgil van Dijk.

Alaba has won Austria’s Player of the Year award an incredible six times, which speaks volumes, and nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns outlines his winning mentality.
