Liverpool could let Clyne leave in January

Nathaniel Clyne could be on his way out of Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Daily Mail explains that the Reds will be open to offers for the former Southampton man.

Clyne has fallen out of favour at Anfield following the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The youngster burst onto the scene last season and has since stepped up and made the position his own.

Clyne has struggled to work his way back into the side with Alexander-Arnold going from strength to strength at Anfield.

Liverpool would be left without a recognised senior right-back to provide back-up to Alexander-Arnold if Clyne left the club, but Jurgen Klopp would have Joe Gomez to fall back on, with the ex-Charlton man more than capable of playing in that role.

The decision to let Clyne leave the club is a clear sign of the level of trust that Klopp has placed in Alexander-Arnold, who has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the division.
