Liverpool have a lot of work to do between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
The Reds have agreed a deal to sign Bradley Barcola, who will fly to Merseyside for a medical in due course.
In terms of departures, players on the fringes of the squad are expected to move on.
And that could well be the case with Harvey Elliott after Valencia made a late move to sign him.
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott in talks with Valencia
Matteo Moretto reports that the La Liga side are already in talks for the Englishman, confirming that it will be a loan move.
He wrote on X: “Valencia are in talks to sign Harvey Elliott. There is optimism between the parties.
“Harvey Elliott has already spoken with Andoni Iraola and has asked him to allow him to join Valencia.
“Negotiations between both clubs are very advanced. It will be a loan.”
Elliott was omitted from the matchday squad for the Reds’ Premier League opener vs Newcastle United, so it doesn’t look like he’s part of Andoni Iraola’s plans.
After a disastrous loan spell at Villa, the young midfielder will look to get his career back on track in Spain if his loan move goes through before the transfer deadline.
