Liverpool returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday evening.
Curtis Jones opened the scoring with a calm finish into the bottom left-hand corner after fine work from Trent Alexander-Arnold to keep the ball in play, before a deflected Roberto Firmino strike found its way into the back of the net.
The Reds were far from their best at times but there were signs of life from the reigning champions as they picked up a crucial three points after what has been a dismal run of form.
Although Diogo Jota was absent with illness there were positives for Liverpool, as both Naby Keita and James Milner returned to get important minutes under their belts.
Certainly a step in the right direction for Jurgen Klopp’s side who now face Chelsea on Thursday night at Anfield in what looks like a huge clash in the race for the top four.
