Liverpool release Mike Marsh

Liverpool release Mike Marsh

Liverpool first-team coach Mike Marsh has been let go as part of a backroom reshuffle, according to The Telegraph.

The 45-year-old’s contract has not been renewed following an assessment of the coaching staff.

Rodgers reportedly decided to make the change after meeting with FSG earlier this week.

Marsh, an ex-Liverpool player, joined the Academy in 2009 and was promoted to Melwood in 2012.

It looks like Marsh is one of the casualties of the meeting between FSG and Rodgers.

It is thought that some want the manager to bring in some legendary former players to help out with coaching, and the Ulsterman wants to work with Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard again in the future.

Carragher has media commitments, but Gerrard is likely to return to Anfield after his spell with LA Galaxy.
