Liverpool reportedly hold talks with Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent

Liverpool have held talks with the agent of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly about the possibility of a transfer, according to a report from Italian outlet Il Mattino.

Koulibaly is reportedly a target for Manchester United, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain but it looks, if these reports are to be believed, that Liverpool are interested in the 27-year-old too.

Koulibaly is currently on international duty with Senegal, along with Liverpool star Sadio Mane, which is of some frustration to Napoli as if they do sell the defender, they wanted to do so early in the window to give them enough time to find a replacement.

Il Mattino report that Liverpool are considering making an official offer for Koulibaly and as such, they contacted his agent to gauge the player’s interest and get an idea about his wage demands.

Liverpool spent £75m on Virgil van Dijk back in January 2018 so whether they’d be willing to spend a similar, if not higher, fee on Koulibaly remains to be seen.
