Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool are in ‘advanced stages’ of new contracts for £103.5m-rated duo

Liverpool are already heavily involved in this summer’s transfer market with players coming and going.

Already the club has signed Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig and are linked with a number of other players.

The likes of Youri Tielemans, Saúl Ñíguez, Renato Sanches, Adama Traoré, and Domenico Berardi have been linked.

However, one thing that has not been reported on as much is current players’ contract extensions.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now reported that the club are in advanced stages for new contracts for Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho…

In an exclusive interview with Anfield Watch, Romano was asked about the club’s current stance with new contracts.

The Italian goes in great depth about the difficulties it can pose in regards to time and money.

However, he did confirm that the club’s talks with £103.5m-rated duo Fabinho and Van Dijk and progressing well.

Not only this, but the club are also working towards starting negotiations with a number of first-team stars.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Alisson all have their contracts running down to the last few years after next season.

This means there is plenty of work that the club needs to put in to tie the trio down to new deals.

As Romano says, this can cost a lot of money on top of the club wanting to sign new players too.

One thing for sure is that new deals for Fabinho and Van Dijk are a hugely positive thing and a step in the right direction.
