Liverpool tell £100m Chelsea player to ditch contract extension for Anfield move

Liverpool made four new signings in the summer transfer window under Andoni Iraola.

However, they are expected to remain active in the upcoming transfer window as the Reds still have a few issues to address.

While their midfield and right-back issues are well documented, Iraola doesn’t have a left-footed attacker in his squad currently.

And if reports from England are to be believed, the Reds are trying to convince Chelsea attacker Estevao Willian to ditch Stamford Bridge for Anfield.

Liverpool want to sign Estevao Willian from Chelsea

Football FanCast report that Liverpool have contacted the Brazilian international – who is valued at over £100m – to put contract extension talks with Chelsea on hold and consider a move to Anfield.

An excerpt from their article reads: “Football FanCast sources understand that Liverpool have contacted the representatives of Estevao Willian and are attempting to convince the winger to ditch contract talks at Chelsea.

“The Brazilian’s current deal doesn’t expire until 2033, but the Blues are trying to tie him down on better terms, according to Fabrizio Romano.

“Those at Anfield are attempting to intervene before that new deal comes into play, however, and have already sent their scouts to watch him in action.

“For their part, Chelsea are not interested in selling their young star and have reportedly valued him at more than £100m.

“That would make him the fourth Liverpool signing worth more than £100m in the last two years, highlighting how much they’ve been willing to splash the cash recently.”

Speculation linking Liverpool with a move for Estevao first emerged in the summer transfer window. And since then, various sources in England have picked up on the story, which is a sign that the link could have legs.

However, we can’t see a scenario where Chelsea would part with their prized asset, let alone to a Premier League rival like Liverpool.
