Liverpool ‘front-runners’ to sign £100m player ahead of Chelsea

Andoni Iraola

Liverpool are expected to make a handful of changes to their squad in the upcoming transfer windows.

Midfield, in particular, remains an area of concern as Andoni Iraola could do well with another reliable option in the centre of the park.

The Reds have been linked with a handful of names as the likes of Lamine Camara and Manu Kone were among the candidates being monitored in the summer.

Liverpool are also interested in signing Alex Scott from Bournemouth, who Iraola knows quite well.

And now, Lewis Steele believes the Reds are frontrunners to sign the England international.

Liverpool favourites for Alex Scott

Steele confirmed that the transfer isn’t at an advanced stage, so the Anfield faithful shouldn’t really get carried away.

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, he added that Liverpool are frontrunners for Scott due to his pre-existing relationship with Iraola.

An excerpt from the article reads: “Bournemouth believe that Liverpool are the front-runners for Alex Scott and that Iraola’s relationships at his former club will be key to signing the midfielder.

“Liverpool are definitely interested but let’s not get carried away just yet.”

Scott is valued at over £100m and is also wanted by Chelsea. He could well leave in January, but at that price, it remains to be seen if Liverpool bite.
