Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer.
The Belgium international shone last season for his club and country at Euro 2020 despite their early exit.
The Reds had been rumoured to be targetting Tielemans as a possible replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.
Dutchman Wijnaldum left the club in July after his contract expired, joining PSG on a free transfer.
His departure has left a hole in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield which still has not been filled as of yet.
Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has weighed in on the Tielemans debate, urging the Reds to sign him.
During his appearance on Sky Sports this weekend, Redknapp stated he thinks that Tielemans is a Liverpool type of player…
As cited by Anfield Watch above, Redknapp feels the club desperately needs to get a new midfielder in.
The former Red states that he thinks Tielemans is the perfect fit for the club and their style of play.
He makes a fair point, with the Belgium midfielder looking very similar to the style of player that Wijnaldum is.
At just 24-years-old, Tielemans fits the mould of the Liverpool transfer policy with his age, ability, and potential.
With a current market value of £49.5million, Tielemans would come at a huge cost if the club were to sign him.
It had been previously reported that the midfielder could cost as much as £70million.
Whether Liverpool feels this is a fee they would be happy to pay is unknown, but unlikely in reality.
