Liverpool transfer news as chances of £72m attacker leaving deemed ‘quite high’

Liverpool have already lost three key players in Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah this summer.

And in the coming weeks, it appears as if at least one more first-team player could be on his way out of Anfield.

In recent weeks, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo have all been linked with transfers.

Losing important first-team players at this stage of the summer would obviously be something Liverpool want to avoid.

But Gakpo is a primary target for Tottenham, and reports from the Netherlands confirm Roberto De Zerbi really wants to sign him this summer.

Cody Gakpo could leave Liverpool

Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof says conviction is starting to build among all parties involved for the transfer of Gakpo to North London.

He wrote on X: “Among all parties, conviction is starting to prevail that the transfer of Cody Gakpo to Spurs is becoming very realistic.

“Chance of success is now quite high. But Liverpool still needs to agree. Manager Roberto De Zerbi hasn’t let go so far. It’s Gakpo all the way.”

Liverpool value Gakpo at around £72m and ideally don’t want to sell him.

But if they manage to sign at least one of Bradley Barcola or Ibrahim Mbaye, they could be tempted to part with him, provided their asking price is met and the player asks for a move.
