Liverpool’s search for an attacker this summer has been dominated by one name recently: Bradley Barcola.
The Reds remain in talks to complete the deal, which is likely to exceed £100m. However, over the course of the summer, a handful of other attackers were also mentioned, although only Victor Munoz has been signed so far.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo has keen admirers at Liverpool after his strong performances for Lille.
He is wanted by a handful of clubs across the continent and a bidding war could well ensue in the coming days.
Liverpool target Fernandez-Pardo omitted from squad
Last week, Fernandez-Pardo informed Lille of his desire to leave the club.
And now, he has been omitted from their squad as they played a friendly against Louvain earlier today.
The versatile forward has multiple clubs chasing him, and with attackers being sold for massive prices, the Ligue 1 side will hope for an auction.
Lille value Fernandez-Pardo at around €70m and it remains to be seen if Liverpool – or other teams – bite at that price.
The Reds are in talks for Barcola and are focused on getting that deal over the line. However, if their pursuit of the Frenchman somehow fails for whatever reason, they would well turn to Lille to snap up Fernandez-Pardo, as it looks like his departure is set in stone this summer.
