Since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2024, it’s safe to say Chiesa has failed to recapture the form that made him one of the most exciting forwards in the world in 2021.
He didn’t play much during his first season at the club but managed to win the Premier League title under Arne Slot.
Last season, Chiesa’s game time improved during the first half of the campaign and he scored a few crucial goals.
But in terms of his overall Anfield career, it just hasn’t worked out for him in the Premier League, which has led to claims that he could move back to Italy.
And now, James Pearce has confirmed that the Italy international is likely to be sold this summer, with Serie A his preferred destination.
“I think the most likely outcome is that by the end of the transfer window, Chiesa will play for a Serie A club,” said Pearce on GiveMeSport’s market madness podcast.
Regardless of what happens, Chiesa has emerged as a bit of a cult hero at Anfield due to his important goals and is a largely likeable character overall.
If a decent bid comes in, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see the Reds cash in on him. On the other hand, Andoni Iraola won’t mind retaining Chiesa as a squad option as the Reds are already devoid of quality and numbers in attack.
