In the early days of pre-season, a handful of young players got plenty of opportunities under Andoni Iraola.
At the time, many players were unavailable due to injuries and international commitments.
However, now that appears to have changed as he has a full squad at his disposal, barring a few injuries.
That has led to Luke Chambers not getting as much game time as he did at the start of pre-season.
That said, Liverpool will take a late call on the defender’s future amid loan interest from the Championship.
Liverpool to make late decision on Luke Chambers
The Liverpool Echo confirm that the Reds will decide closer to the transfer deadline whether or not to sanction a loan deal for Chambers, who is wanted by Blackburn Rovers.
An excerpt from the article reads: “Luke Chambers is wanted by a number of Championship clubs including Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers, although the Reds, similar to attacker Lewis Koumas, will determine nearer deadline day on September 1 whether to loan the defender.”
Chambers scored a goal in pre-season and filled in brilliantly as a central defender despite being a left-back by trade.
He is a talented player, but with Ronald Araujo joining the club and the likes of Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni on the comeback trail, it looks likely he will be loaned out later this month.
