The summer transfer came to an end on Monday and saw Liverpool end on a rather quiet note.
Despite the signing of Ibrahima Konaté at the start of the window, the Reds failed to make any other additions.
This came as quite a surprise given the number of players that departed the club throughout the summer.
The like of Georginio Wijnaldum, Harry Wilson, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Marko Grujic all left on permanent deals.
Throughout the summer window, Liverpool had been extensively linked with a move for Brighton’s Yves Bissouma.
Liverpool’s interest never went any further, but it now seems as though they are prepared to revisit that.
According to Metro reporter Aden-Jay Wood, the Reds, along with Manchester United and Arsenal, may make a move for Bissouma in January…
The summer window may have only just come to an end but attention is turning to the winter.
Of course, the club’s activity in January will depend solely on how they fare in the league and other competitions.
Jurgen Klopp made it clear that he is happy with the squad of players he has for this season.
However, there is no telling what could happen between now and then, with last season a prime example.
Injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip saw the Reds dip into the market last in January.
If the club’s midfield options don’t improve or fail to deliver, then there is no reason why Bissouma may be a target.
The Liverpool Echo claims that a deal for the midfielder could cost as much as £40million.
Liverpool have a Winaldum sized hole in their current squad and Bissouma more than fits the bill.
